The Dubrovnik branch of Matica Hrvatska presented a new book from the cycle of picture books about famous Dubrovnik people dedicated to the scientist, philosopher and diplomat Stjepan Gradić.
The book was published on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his birth. Stjepan Gradić (1613-1683) was, among other things, the diplomatic representative of the Republic of Dubrovnik to the Holy See, he spoke eight world languages and is responsible for the construction of the Dubrovnik Cathedral, which marked the 300th anniversary of its completion this year.
The author of the text in the book is Vinicije Lupis, illustrator Eugen Varzić, and Jelena Obradović Mojaš presented the book alongside them, while guitarist Maroje Brčić took part in the special program. On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the birth of Stjepan Gradić, Dubrovnik museums are preparing this year’s central exhibition project, which will be called ‘Stjepan Gradić – Father of the Fatherland’.
