One su naj\u010de\u0161\u0107e usmjerene prema drugim \u017eivim bi\u0107ima. No, emocionalno se mo\u017eemo vezati i uz predmete i mjesta koji nas asociraju na odre\u0111ene ljude ili doga\u0111aje, dok je strast \u010desto nit vodilja u radu, hobiju ili pozivu kojem smo posvetili svoj \u017eivot. Ljubav mo\u017ee biti romanti\u010dna, uzvi\u0161ena ili opsesivna, no postoji i zabavna vrsta ljubavi \u2013 ludus. Takvu ljubav poimamo kao igru. Ona je oslobo\u0111ena o\u010dekivanja i dodatnih optere\u0107enja, te se u njoj istinski u\u017eiva. Duh ludusa pronalazimo i u novim radovima Eugena Varzi\u0107a.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Slikarstvo kao na\u010din \u017eivota. \u017divot u kojem je slikanje kao disanje. \u017divot u kojem se odgovor na vanjska i unutarnja, pozitivna i negativna iskustva stvarnosti uvijek pronalazi u slici. Eugen Varzi\u0107 \u017eivi svoje slikarstvo. Ono je obilje\u017eeno kontinuiranim istra\u017eivanjem, eksperimentiranjem i razvojem. Nerv koji uvijek propituje, te tjera i gura umjetnika prema naprijed rezultirao je novim radovima objedinjenim pod nazivom Ludus. Ime karakterizira osje\u0107aj prisutan prilikom stvaranja \u2013 trenutka unutar kojeg je slikarstvo Eugena Varzi\u0107a doseglo stupanj kada slikanje postaje u\u017eitak, a igra proces u vremenu. Tematsko podru\u010dje i dalje ostaje isto \u2013 svijet figuracije s motivima ljudskog lika u formi portreta ili autoportreta, no pristup u obradi motiva i sadr\u017eaja se zna\u010dajno mijenja. Svaka slika postaje slika-koncept, te svojom snagom mo\u017ee stajati samostalno u prostoru, neovisno od drugih djela nastalih u istom periodu. Svaka slika je istovremeno traganje, propitkivanje i zauzimanje stava. Pou\u010den iskustvima Antonia L\u00f3peza Garcie i Eloya Moralesa, Eugen Varzi\u0107 se nakon potpunog ovladavanja tehnikom fokusira na istra\u017eivanje psiholo\u0161kog polja pojedinca. Ranija &#8220;poetika ti\u0161ine&#8221; prisutna u urbanim vedutama i \u0161umama poput &#8220;Forest Swords&#8221; u novim radovima zamijenjena je glasnim unutarnjim krikom. Uz perfekciju tehnike, u prvi plan izbija ekspresija li\u0161ena cenzure i suzdr\u017eavanja. Kao \u0161to su u ludusu va\u017eniji osje\u0107aji koje pojedinac posjeduje od osobe koja poti\u010de te osje\u0107aje, tako je kod novih radova portret samo polazi\u0161te za vlastitu interpretaciju, odnosno temelj za razradu i formiranje posve novog djela. Slika postaje podru\u010dje slobode gdje je i dalje prisutna fizi\u010dka sli\u010dnost s modelom, no dolazi do zna\u010dajne transformacije u psiholo\u0161koj interpretaciji. Stapanje vizualno prepoznatljive vanj\u0161tine i posve nove utisnute nutrine stvara novi identitet \u010dime zapo\u010dinje \u017eivot slike. Transformacija postaje okida\u010d za cijeli dijapazon reakcija i emocija \u2013 od odu\u0161evljenja do vidljive uznemirenosti.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Portreti bliskih i poznatih osoba poput djela &#8220;Winter&#8221; i &#8220;Slavonia&#8221; s nagla\u0161enim toplim inkarnatom dodatno su istaknuti uhva\u0107enom svjetlo\u0161\u0107u koja oblikuje detalje daju\u0107i zavr\u0161ni karakter licu li\u0161enom tenzija i uznemirenosti. Raniji portreti postupno ustupaju mjesto gotovo akromatskim portretima &#8220;I woke up like this&#8221; i &#8220;Mirror&#8221; gdje tonska gradacija definira osobe koje asociraju na likove iz starih filmova, tj. one intrigantne li\u010dnosti s pri\u010dom koju tek treba otkriti. U kona\u010dnici nastaju krajnje ekspresivni portreti skriveni iza maski, vri\u0161te\u0107i iznutra u te\u017enji da nam ispri\u010daju pri\u010du jednog naroda, ideje, emocije ili ljubavi. Klju\u010dnu ulogu u transformaciji izraza imaju tzv. prijelazne slike koje nastaju izme\u0111u ciklusa. Rije\u010d je o urbanim vedutama ili motivima \u0161ume koje terapeutski asistiraju u nepoznatom podru\u010dju tra\u017eenja i stvaranja novog. Postoji ne\u0161to intrigantno i pomalo zastra\u0161uju\u0107e u tim prijelaznim radovima, posebice u slici &#8220;Contia&#8221; i &#8220;Babina Greda&#8221;. Dok ogoljuju du\u0161u autora one istovremeno omogu\u0107uju direktnu spoznaju kroz ranjivo i procesualno. Igra je dovela do osloba\u0111anja boja, motiva i simbolike u radovima nijemog krika, utapanja i portreta zatvorenih o\u010diju, pa sve do motiva ruku koje jednako sna\u017eno pri\u010daju pri\u010du i prenose poruku. Nazivi radova podjednako su va\u017eni kao i sama djela. Oni dolaze iz realnog \u017eivota i prenose poruke koje daje sam model. Nikada nisu doslovni, ve\u0107 pri\u010daju pri\u010du ili objedinjuju utisnuti sadr\u017eaj. Mogu biti prva ili kona\u010dna informacija o radu. \u010cesto neo\u010dekivani, provokativni ili simboli\u010dni, nazivi su ponekad i brutalni, no uvijek ostavljaju tra\u010dak nade.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Novi radovi svojevrsna su dijagnoza na\u0161e stvarnosti. Eugen Varzi\u0107 pa\u017eljivim promatranjem, velikom prodorno\u0161\u0107u i bogatom imaginacijom bilje\u017ei stanje \u010dovjeka i vremena. Prvi rad koji je nastao kao slika-koncept je &#8220;Andragathia&#8221;. Kako sam umjetnik isti\u010de slika prikazuje lice Europe danas. Po\u010dev\u0161i od gr\u010dkih i rimskih ideala na kojima po\u010diva kultura, filozofija i umjetnost Zapadnog svijeta, preko devastacija, pa sve do moralnih prodaja i degradacije ljudskog bi\u0107a kada smo svi postali roba za zamjenu ili \u0161to bolju prodaju sa\u017eeto je u licu kojim dominira prodoran pogled s izmjenjuju\u0107im emocijama strasti, gnjeva, hladno\u0107e i otrije\u017enjenosti pro\u017eivljenim. Portret direktno, fokusirano i trezveno komunicira s promatra\u010dem pritom u potpunosti negiraju\u0107i izbrazdano i okrvavljeno lice s kojeg kaplje pulsiraju\u0107a krv. Bijela maska poja\u010dava dojam hladno\u0107e, te dodatno isti\u010de ogoljeni pogled. O\u010di zrcale na\u0161u pro\u0161lost, a potencijalno i na\u0161u budu\u0107nost kao pojedinca, zajednice, nacije ili u kona\u010dnici cjelokupnog \u010dovje\u010danstva. Nijemi krik prisutan je u jo\u0161 jednom zamaskiranom autoportretu pod nazivom &#8220;Asshole&#8221;. Lice utjelovljuje psiholo\u0161ku evokaciju svih osje\u0107aja i du\u0161evnih stanja jednog naroda. To je bol i razo\u010daranje ljudi koji odlaze, ali i sna\u017ena kritika sustava, dru\u0161tva i politike koja polako, ali sigurno vodi do samouni\u0161tenja vlastite dr\u017eave. Nije rije\u010d o drami koja se raspr\u0161ila na sve strane, ve\u0107 o ekspresiji koncentriranoj u du\u0161i pojedinca koji nosi breme cijelog naroda. Osje\u0107aj svjesnosti situacije i nemogu\u0107nosti mijenjanja realnosti na bolje mu\u010dnija je od bilo kakvog fizi\u010dkog maltretiranja. Za vrijeme fizi\u010dkog nano\u0161enja ozljeda pojedinac se mo\u017ee mentalno isklju\u010diti, ali kada stanje izjeda \u010dovjeka iznutra, psihi\u010dka bol ve\u0107a je od bilo kakve fizi\u010dke boli. To stanje potvr\u0111uje nevjerojatno sna\u017ean izraz lica zamaskiranog u hrvatski nacionalni simbol.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Prikazan u krupnom planu, kao i dva ranija autoportreta, rad &#8220;Night, my love&#8221; portret je slikareve supruge, no umjesto nijemog krika dolazi do koncentracije sadr\u017eaja unutar uma \u017eenskog lika. Zatvaranjem o\u010diju prekida se komunikacija s promatra\u010dem i dolazi do stanja kontemplacije unutar same du\u0161e, dok blago uzdignuta glava, niz sitnih, ali jasno vidljivih detalja iscrtanih po licu, sna\u017eno osjen\u010dani kapci, te boja trule vi\u0161nje na usnama i kosa u duginim bojama jasno izra\u017eavaju pritajeni bunt. Iskrenost koja pro\u017eima svako djelo Eugena Varzi\u0107a u vizualno i emocionalno sna\u017enim kritikama dru\u0161tva ne podr\u017eava o\u010dajavanje, ve\u0107 poziva na djelovanje, a svako djelovanje po\u010dinje s idejom, promi\u0161ljanjem ili reakcijom. U suprotnome, indiferentnost je najo\u010ditija potvrda izgubljene bitke.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Ostaju\u0107i u podru\u010dju figuracije i realisti\u010dnih prikaza Eugen Varzi\u0107 ponovno otkriva ono \u0161to nikada nismo znali ili nismo imali hrabrosti uo\u010diti. U bilje\u017eenju vidljive i psiholo\u0161ke stvarnosti bitan je proces koji osloba\u0111a i poti\u010de na nove na\u010dine izra\u017eavanja. Nerv koji ne da mira i stalno tjera dalje poduprt istinom i novoste\u010denom slobodom, te sigurno\u0161\u0107u u izri\u010daju otvara cijeli dijapazon novih mogu\u0107nosti. U procesu eksperimentiranja nastao je i rad &#8220;Mother&#8221; u kojem dominira intenzivno plava boja usmjeravaju\u0107i pa\u017enju promatra\u010da na gestu koja je spontanim kretnjama dlanova i prstiju formirala znakovni izraz po kojem je rad i nazvan. Slika &#8220;Sunday&#8221; nagovijestila je zrelost i po\u010detak novog poglavlja. Lik starice izvire iz mraka dok tamna pozadina dodatno isti\u010de prikaz ljudskosti. Meka sijeda kosa, lice obasjano suncem, ruka oslonjena na stol i zami\u0161ljen pogled u stranu. Svaki detalj na licu, tijelu i odje\u0107i starice dio je slagalice pro\u017eivljenog \u017eivota. Rije\u010di Paola Segnerija kako je lice prijestolje na kojem stoluje du\u0161a i o\u010dituje svima svoje dostojanstvo kao da su pisane za Eugenov prikaz none. Namre\u0161kana ko\u017ea otkriva godine, a lice ispisano \u017eivotom pri\u010da pri\u010du koja postaje dio kolektivne memorije. Nit poveznica svih recentnih radova je slojevitost prikaza kao odraz kompleksnosti \u010dovjeka. Slojevitost i ekspresivnost utje\u010du na promatra\u010da, te se emocije i reakcije izmjenjuju ovisno o iskustvu i do\u017eivljaju pojedinca.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">U trenutku u kojem je tehni\u010dko savladano, a um zreo i oslobo\u0111en barijera, zapo\u010dinje igra koja ustupa mjesto ekspresiji tj. ogoljivanju du\u0161e u svim njezinim aspektima. I to bez suzdr\u017eavanja, kalkuliranja i ustru\u010davanja. Radovi Eugena Varzi\u0107a sadr\u017ee i dobro i lo\u0161e, lijepo i ru\u017eno, sre\u0107u i tugu, pohvalu i kritiku, te nadu i bezna\u0111e. Umjetnik interpretira svijet iskreno, intuitivno i slobodno. Kontinuiranim radom i razvojem nastoji potaknuti emociju ili reakciju koja ima u\u010dinak na pojedinca, zajednicu, svijet. U svojoj namjeri dolazi do samih granica brutalnosti, ru\u0161e\u0107i povremeno i moralne barijere.
